Logistics involves getting physical things to the site, directing drivers to drop things in the right place on the site, directing visiting vehicles during the event, and organising collection and delivery of things away from the site after the festival.

Jobs logistics covered in 2016 included:

* "Last mile" organisation of items ordered by other teams - e.g. directing lorry drivers to the site
* Organising delivery of NOC and other equipment to a storage unit near the site before buildup
* Organising delivery of that equipment to site
* Scheduling of delivery and collection of equipment (so the volunteer kitchen doesn't turn up before there's a tent to put it in)
* Marking out tent locations with chalk paint on the site and acting as main point of contact for tent contractors
* Directing sanitary trucks to empty IBCs and portaloos during the event
* Counting bulk items such as chairs, tables, and fire extinguishers off vehicles on delivery
* Ordering small sundry items such as gloves, tapes, marker pens and whiteboards
* Ordering specialist equipment required by installations such as propane and propane accessories

The work involved is a split between:

* Walking/driving around site pointing at things and talking to people.
* Answering the phone and ordering things with a laptop.

We need one or two volunteers to help with either of the above. Logistics is good for anyone who wants a "desk job" during setup or teardown. The job does '''not''' involve any lifting or carrying. Good spoken English would be an advantage. It may involve some early starts - being able to answer the phone from 7 AM during setup and teardown is important.

Electromagnetic Field (EMF) is a non-profit UK camping festival for those with an inquisitive mind or an interest in making things: hackers, geeks, scientists, engineers, artists, and crafters.

EMF Camp 2018 will take place between Friday 31st August and Sunday 2nd September 2018 in Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Herefordshire. Just like in 2012, 2014 and 2016, hundreds of people will gather in a field for three days of talks and workshops covering everything from genetic modification to electronics, blacksmithing to high-energy physics, reverse engineering to lock picking, computer security to crocheting, and quadcopters to beer brewing.

To help matters along, we will arrange a high-speed internet connection, reliable WiFi, and a bar stocked with real ale.

To get an idea what EMF2016 was like, you can view the list of talks, workshops and performances and see recordings of a number of them on our [https://www.youtube.com/user/emfcamp1/videos Youtube channel]. If you are inspired by the past content, please consider running your own talk or workshop this year!

The campsite contains a number of villages, where those with something in common can camp together. This something in common could be anything: from being members of the same Hackspace through an interest in high altitude ballooning to a love of everything Dutch. If there isn't a village for your interest, then why not create one! Many villages run their own talks, workshops or other events.

At each EMF event we give our attendees a great camp badge. Not just a 'Hello my name is" sticker but a nice fun piece of technology that they can take away and use after the event. At the last event, attendees received a [http://blog.emfcamp.org/post/145667126793/the-emf-tilda-badge-is-saved TiLDA Mkπ]. Information about past Badges including TiLDA, SiNE and our next badge can be found [https://badge.emfcamp.org here].
