= Speaker Operations Team =
The speaker operations team are here to make sure that your speaking experience is a pleasant one and that each stage runs smoothly.

If you need to contact us for any reason you can get hold of us by:

Phone: '''01908 870911'''

Email: '''[email address removed]'''

If neither of these are available, ask at the info tent on site and someone will find us.

= Before you present =
Please arrive at the '''green room''' at least 30 minutes before your scheduled time slot. The green room can be found next to the first aid tent and info desk. If you cannot find it, the info desk will be able to point you in the right direction.

|layers=emf,osm-mapnik
|zoom=18
}}

If you wish to attend the talk right before yours, please let us know earlier in the day so that we know where you are. It will be your responsibility to make sure you are at your stage when the previous speaker finishes.

If we have not heard from you 30 minutes before your talk, we will do our best to find you. If we cannot find you and you miss your speaking slot, you '''will not get another slot in the schedule'''.

= Presentations =
When it is time for you to present, someone from the team will take you to the stage where the AV team will help you to get connected to the projector and PA system if required. The projectors are 1080p with a 16:9 aspect ratio, they can accept DVI, HDMI, MiniDisplayport and USB-C as display outputs; '''VGA is not supported'''. The speaker operations team member may read some announcements to the audience and then introduce you. If you prefer to introduce yourself, please let them know.

Each stage is equipped with a projector, screen, a lectern, and a PA system. If you have slides, you may present from your own laptop or use the EMF provided one (Windows, MS Office). If you have any questions about the stage setup or wish to check your slides, audio, or video on the stage beforehand, please let a member of the team know as early as possible. There are no gaps in the schedule, so this would need to take place at the start of the day.

While you are free to use your time slot in any way that you like, we recommend taking Q&A outside of the stage afterwards. This will leave more time for you to present information and allow questions to go to a depth that may not be required by the wider audience.

Please let us know as soon as you can if any of the details that you have given us change between now and EMF, for example length of presentation, your availability, whether or not we may film and upload your presentation.

= Workshops =
There is no organised pre-signup for workshops at EMF, we intend for the workshops to be handled on a first come first served basis.

If your workshop requires a fee or the sale of materials to participants, you should take care of this at the start of the workshop. You could also pre-sell materials as a method of workshop sign-up. EMF cannot take payment for materials, so you should plan to sell them in cash. Attendees can get cashback from the bar.

If you have requested audio/video capabilities the workshop will be equipped with a 42" screen which can accept DVI, HDMI, MiniDisplayport and USB-C as display outputs; '''VGA is not supported'''. If you would like to present material on screen but do not have a laptop, please let the speaker ops team know as early as possible so that we can try to arrange something.

= After you present =
After you are finished a member of the team should be available to help you get off stage as the next speaker sets up. We have a tight schedule to maintain, so we'd like to avoid overruns.

= Questions or Problems =
Please contact us if you have any questions or problems with presenting. The sooner we know about a problem, the more likely it is we can solve it, schedule round it, or help.

'''If you are a first time speaker,''' please let us know about any questions or concerns you have, it doesn't matter what they are, we're here to help. If you would like someone to look at your slides for you we would be happy to do that before the event.

If you have any questions about the stage setup or wish to check your slides, audio, or video on the stage beforehand, please let a member of the team know as early as possible. There are no gaps in the schedule, so this would need to take place at the start of the day.

While you are free to use you time slot in any way that you like, we recommend taking Q&A outside of the stage afterwards.

You could also pre-sell materials a method of workshop sign-up.

If you have presentation materials that you would share, please link them from the [[Talks|Talks page]].

This is the rough guide for how the content team functions. If you have any questions, ask Jonty or one of the Orga.

== Content Team ==

The content team goes through several phases.

:# CFP & Outreach
:# Speaker selection & confirmation
:# Handover talk/workshop content to Speaker Ops
:# Manage installations
:# Post-event feedback

In general, all work around content before and after the event is dealt with by the content team in general, and all work around content during the event is managed by speaker ops. The speaker ops team may also handle requirements gathering from speakers, and organise transport for speakers.

== Communication and resources ==

* We have a shared google drive folder for all content documentation for the current event, and we can share access to the same documents for all previous events.
* There is a content channel on IRC for chatting between the team, and we can give you an IRCCloud.com account if you are not already familiar with IRC.
* The main EMF website hosts all CFP content & scheduling, and you can have access to this granted by one of the Org team.
* We have several shared email inboxes (such as content@, installations@) hosted on Helpmonks, again you can have access to these granted by one of the Org team.

== Types of content ==

EMF is made up of many different types of content and the Content team facilitates all of these, both organising them (where needed) and ensuring they are discoverable.

In general 80% of the content at EMF comes from the CFP, and 20% comes from people we invite as part of our outreach. The speakers that we outreach to are suggested by attendees and the org team, and for (generally famous) speakers who would not attend EMF otherwise we may go out of our way to secure their attendance (by offering free tickets, etc) however we minimise this and it is at the discretion of the org team.

Talks
-----

* Talks are sourced through the CFP and by inviting speakers. Generally we will ask invited speakers to fill in the CFP to track everything.
* Talks are hosted on one of the main stages.
* Talks that are not from invited speakers are anonymised and go through the full CFP review process by the review panel.
* Talks from invited speakers are inputted into the CFP, but they may be manually approved by the Content team instead of going through the review process.
* We offer free day tickets or 1/3 off regular tickets for the speaker and one other person. More may be approved at the discretion of the Content team.

Workshops
---------
* Workshops are sourced through the CFP and by inviting speakers. Generally we will ask invited speakers to fill in the CFP to track everything.
* Workshops are hosted in a workshop tent, but they may also be hosted by a village.
* Workshops that are not from invited speakers are anonymised and go through the full CFP review process by the review panel.
* Workshops from invited speakers are inputted into the CFP, but they may be manually approved by the Content team instead of going through the review process.
* We offer free day tickets or 1/3 off regular tickets for the speaker and one other person. More may be approved at the discretion of the Content team.

Installations
-------------
* Installations are sourced through the CFP and by inviting people. Generally we will ask for invitees to fill in the CFP to track everything, however when this does not make sense (or the content team does not really need to know about the installation) we may simply tell the creator that they can bring it anyway.
* Installations may be installed anywhere on site, and may be requested by subteams for their area - such as the bar, cybar, or lounge.
* I
* We offer free day tickets or 1/3 off regular tickets for the speaker and one other person. More may be approved at the discretion of the Content team.
== Content Team ==

The content team goes through several phases.

:# CFP & Outreach
:# Speaker selection & confirmation
:# Handover talk/workshop content to Speaker Ops
:# Manage installations
:# Post-event feedback

In general, all work around content before and after the event is dealt with by the content team in general, and all work around content during the event is managed by speaker ops. The speaker ops team may also handle requirements gathering from speakers, and organise transport for speakers.

== Communication and resources ==

== Types of content ==

* I
