Electromagnetic Field 2016
Electromagnetic Field (EMF) is a non-profit UK camping festival for those with an inquisitive mind or an interest in making things: hackers, geeks, scientists, engineers, artists, and crafters.
EMF Camp 2016 took place on the 5-7th of August in Loseley Park, near Guildford. Just like in 2012 and the 2014, hundreds of people gathered in a field for three days of talks and workshops covering everything from genetic modification to electronics, blacksmithing to high-energy physics, reverse engineering to lock picking, computer security to crocheting, and quadcopters to beer brewing.
To help matters along, we arranged a high-speed internet connection, reliable WiFi, and a bar stocked with real ale.
It's 3056 days since EMF2016! For the record, here's the packing list, an FAQ, and some travel advice. To get an idea what EMF2016 was like, you can view the list of talks, workshops and performances and see recordings of a number of them on our Youtube channel. If you are inspired by the past content, then why not run your own talk or workshop next year!
The campsite contained a number of villages, where those with something in common could camp together. This something in common could be anything: from being members of the same Hackspace through an interest in high altitude ballooning to a love of everything Dutch. If there isn't a village for your interest, then why not create one next time! Many villages ran their own talks, workshops or other events.
At each EMF event we give our attendees a great camp badge. Not just a 'Hello my name is" sticker but a nice fun piece of technology that they can take away and use after the event. At this event, attendees received a TiLDA Mkπ. Information about past Badges including TiLDA, SiNE and our next badge can be found here.
To avoid missing out in future, you should join our mailing list, or check the list of UnwantedTickets.
