This was tested at OHM2013 (with some modifications needed).

• use fibers to the track tents
• use intercom between central point and track tent
• use ssd recorders on program out
• blackmagic makes great hardware ;)
• teradek cubes are great streamer devices (once you fix a few bugs that were found)

• Yep. BMD are good, but not cheap! SSDs are more expensive for us, and we'll get through quite a bit of storage over the weekend. The idea is to consolidate it all into one box at the MCC to save costs and make the whole architecture a lot easier to work with. Things like swapping SSDs are easy to forget / mismanage when everything is all go on the day!

• Fibers ; yep, maybe depending on how long the runs to stages are - long = probably fiber, on signal and cost grounds. Remember the glue is the real hidden cost! I suppose we can't decide this until later on in the game when a site has been chosen.
• comms yep. I have already got that mainly solved :) (balanced partyline + power, almost opensourced (soon!)) from some stuff back in student TV days. Its proven, cheap, and it works.\
• teradeck cubes are 'floppy', and cost loads to even hire. We're trying to do this on a pin-sharp budget! Also, the fewer mid-system encoders we have, the better... Zero is easy and cheap! A teradeck would be awesome for a run round the field bit...
